Festival on Bloor 2008 was Sunday June 8, Noon to 6 PM, from Bathurst Street to Spadina Road on Bloor Street. We celebrated our Annex! Miles Nadal JCC was host, along with the help of the Bloor Annex BIA, to this 12th annual street event. It was a beautiful hot sunny day and everyone enjoyed the sights, sounds and delicious delights of our vibrant neighbourhood!

We joined the parade of musicians at 1 PM! One group started at Spadina and another at Bathurst Street. They all met at the Tranzac Music Stage at Brunswick and Bloor. There was lots of music on stage until 5:30 PM. CIUT Radio 89.5 FM broadcast it all live from Festival on Bloor!

We watched The Toronto Fringe Festival performances at The Fringe Stage from 2 to 5 PM located near Spadina and Bloor on Robert Street. Happy 20th Anniversary to the Toronto Fringe!

We strolled by the booths and craft vendors on the street. We relaxed at the many patios, cafes and restaurants along the way. Our diverse shops have practically everything!

Toronto Fringe Festival 2008 was July 3 to 14 (20th Anniversary!)

The 2008 Fringe of Toronto Theatre Festival ran July 3 -14 and was a great success! With an extremely strong line-up of 150 plays and thousands of new patrons, we far exceeded our box office projections with a ticketed attendance of well over 57000. The generous support of the Bloor Annex BIA helped make the trip to the Annex inviting and fun for all our patrons, new and old.
Special thanks to all those who participated in our Fringe Benefits program, offering specials and deals to those holding a Fringe ticket stub.
Next year will be the Toronto Fringe's 21st anniversary. We can't wait to see what 2009 holds in store!

Fringe Benefits – July 3-31, 2008. Watch out for those discounts!

As the official ticket sponsor of the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2008 the Bloor Annex BIA businesses once again offered a discount or special to the “Fringers” who presented their ticket stubs. Our Fringe Benefits poster acted as a beacon in store windows along Bloor Street. Participating businesses were included on the Fringe Festival’s web site and the buzz at the Fringe Club at 292 Brunswick (aka The Tranzac) helped spread the word. The daily Fringe Harold also linked to the Fringe Benefits list.
Thanks to all the businesses that participated and the Fringe Festival staff and volunteers.

Santa Claus Parade was on Sunday November 18, 2007

The Bloor Annex BIA elves gave out thousands of candy canes to kids of all sizes before the start of the parade. Bloor Street was lined with dedicated Santa fans camped out waiting for the parade to pass by.
Thanks to Kilgour’s at 509 Bloor Street West for giving the elves a home base.
